Edith Abeyta
Artist statement: "My work manifests itself as participatory site-specific installations typically fabricated on location with a general theme of labor - implied through the materials collected for the work and explicit in the methods used to construct the project. Interaction and participation are crucial to the success of each piece from the gathering of materials, fabrication of the piece, activation of the work by participants to the re-distribution of the materials at the end of the installation cycle. My use of salvaged garments as a medium is to reference the figure, to bring the body in to confront the space as well as to call attention to the everyday and the implied narrative aspects of clothing." She lives in North Braddock.
